Meet The Team Behind Freeflo Plumbing In Port Stephens

Our Story

Hi, we’re Mat and Sam — the husband-and-wife team behind Freeflo Plumbing.

We started Freeflo Plumbing with a simple goal: to build a family-owned plumbing business founded on trust, hard work, and genuine care for our customers.

With 30 years of plumbing experience under my belt and Sam’s background in running her own therapy business, we bring a mix of hands-on expertise and heart felt customer care. It’s that balance of skill and service that shapes everything we do at Freeflo Plumbing.

My plumbing journey began back in 1987, learning the ropes in a small plumbing business focused on residential maintenance and renovations. From there, I stepped into major construction, working on iconic projects like five-star hotels and commercial building across Sydney’s CBD and outer suburbs.

After completing my trade and getting the travel itch, I set off for London and spent the next two years exploring the world. When I returned home, I completed my qualifications, earned my plumbing licence, and went on to run my own business in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs for eight years.

It was during this time I met Sam. After getting married, we made the move north to Port Stephens to raise our family, and over 20 years — and two kids later — we still feel incredibly lucky to call this beautiful community home.

Once we settled in the bay, my plumbing career continued to grow. I went on to co-found a successful company with two others, which expanded to over 20 employees. While I’m proud of what we built, I always felt the pull to return to something more personal.

That’s when Sam and I decided to pour our energy into creating something of our own — a smaller, family-run plumbing business in Port Stephens, that’s all about honest service, respect, and getting the job done right.

And that’s how Freeflo Plumbing was born.

We’re proud to serve the community we love — and we look forward to helping you with reliable, down-to-earth plumbing in Port Stephens you can count on.
